On May 22-23, 2018, the All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference "Scientific Community of the Students of the XXI Century" was held on the basis of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens at Sumy State University. Such an event was held for the first time at the department.

Among the participants were students and their scientific supervisors, representing not only our university, but also higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus (such as the Brest State University named after A. S. Pushkin) and Ukraine (such as Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University, Institute of Culture and Arts of the Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. S. Makarenko, Sumy National Agrarian University). The geography of foreign students, who have presented their works at the conference, is very wide: Azerbaijan, Angola, Belarus, Ghana, Zimbabwe, India, Jordan, Kenya, China, Morocco, Mongolia, Nigeria, Palestine, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan.

Mykola O. Bozhko, the Director of the Department of International Education of the Sumy State University, made a welcoming speech and greeted all the conference participants. In the speech, he stressed that the process of studying at the university is related to science, with special attention given to student scientific work. Student science is an important component of the subject training, development of students’ professional abilities. This is the cornerstone, on which the development of the scientific and human resources depends. Mykola O. Bozhko noted that scientific and professional work at Sumy State University is conducted not only at all stages of the educational process but also at all administrative levels (departments, faculties, universitywide level).

The purpose of the conference is to involve students in science, educate youngsters’interest to new scientific knowledge and discoveries. The conference is the platform for an exchange of experience, discussions, and disputes. This creates a breeding environment, from which true young talents grow. Olena M. Yevtushenko, the Deputy Dean for Scientific Work of the Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications, noted the high level of students scientific work, which is conducted at the department, and wished success in the work of the conference.

Larysa V.Bidenko, the Head of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens of Sumy State University, and Alina V.Shevtsova, the Vice-director for Educational Work of the Department of International Education of Sumy State University, congratulated all participants on the opening of the conference and expressed confidence in its fruitful work.

Within the framework of the conference, foreign students presented their scientific achievements, discussed the problems of educational and scientific work, and communicated. The conference participants received certificates, gifts and lots of positive emotions. Special mention should be made of the high scientific level of work of the next interesting and informative presentations:

An interesting concert, prepared by efforts of foreign students, became the conference’s decoration.

The event was held at a high scientific level, and we hope that the All-Ukrainian scientific and practical conference "Scientific Community of the Students of the XXI Century" will become hereafter a traditional one.
