On December 2, associate professor of Department of language training for foreign citizens Alla Yarova took part in a discussion meeting of the project “Voice of Communities”. This is a joint initiative of UA: Public Broadcasting and Deutsche Welle Academie, a leading German media development organization.

The project aims to identify areas of public life in the region that require additional attention, as well as to form a list of the main challenges that the region will face in the near future. In the future, the organizers will financially contribute to the production and broadcasting of content aimed at highlighting the identified problems of the region. Among other issues that require attention from the city authorities and society, Alla Yarova named the interaction of identities. The globalization of the educational environment causes a situation where very remote cultures, languages, and traditions are located nearby. This is a challenge for local authorities and society, because it is necessary to have tools for interaction, create a friendly public space, and develop relationships, because international students studying at local universities contribute to the dissemination of information about the city, activate the local economy and cultural diplomacy. The teacher spoke about the experience of Sumy State University in the field of cooperation with foreign students.
