Lecturers of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens Diadchenko Hannah Viktorivna and Vorona Natalia Oleksandrivna together with the students-foreigners of the Preparatory Department and 1 st course of the Medical Institute visited Sumy Regional Museum of Local Lore.

It was the first time for the students when they visited the museum offline. The assistants at the museum took into account the concerns expressed by us and gave the excursion around the museum. They got the students acquainted with all the expositions of the museum briefly and Senior Lecturer Diadchenko Hanna Viktorivna translated the guide’s words into English.

The foreign students really liked the expositions devoted to the nature of Sumy Region and to the warfare in the East of Ukraine. They were deeply impressed by the story about the Sumy heroes who fought and died for the Ukrainian independence. It was surprising that war theme interested the girls more while the boys were more interested in fauna of Sumy region. All the students observed the items of the Ukrainian traditional life, compared the Ukrainian traditions with their native ones, took many photos of the most interesting exhibits and even sometimes touched upon the historical and cultural artefacts.

One may confidently say that foreign visitors extremely liked the excursion. We’d like to bring to your attention some feedback from the 1 course students:
«I particularly loved the nature exhibit, it shows a lot about Sumy region and it was very informative. The War hall got me teary, so many people lost for Independence. Fighting for their country, an independence well deserved», - noted the student Suleiman from Nigeria.

«I was happy to see Ukrainian culture today. I really love the nature hall. I'm praying to go there again. What I don't like is the war hall because I was sad I don't like war», - said student Joseph from Ghana.

«I really liked nature halls, they are so natural and wonderful, I also liked the Ukrainian home life I saw there. It was an amazing experience», - noticed student Marie from Nigeria.

«Our excursion to the museum was really informative, thanks to it I knew more about Sumy. I suppose to be the most interesting that part of the museum where we were told about the history of a young man who died for his Motherland… Another part that was also interesting for me, – those are animals, they looked like alive and they were really beautiful … We also saw the photos of the people which went to war for Sumy and didn’t come back, may their spirits rest in peace…», - wished the student Fluorish from Nigeria.
