On May 12, 2023, lecturers from the Department of Language Training Hanna Diadchenko and Liudmyla Kulishenko participated in the International Scientific Conference "Theory and Practice of Teaching Ukrainian Language as a Foreign Language", held by the Department of Ukrainian Applied Linguistics at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

The conference brought together philologists from Ukraine, Germany, Poland, and China to discuss current issues in the theory and practice of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language, problems related to language culture, as well as the basic concepts and terms of the methodology of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language. Specifically, the conference addressed issues such as the global spread of the Ukrainian language, the creation of publishing products, and the presentation of the work of philologists in the media of other countries.

The lecturers from the Department of Language Training presented their research on the topic "Youth Slang in the Speech of Modern Students", sharing their findings and recommendations on overcoming slang and surzhyk elements in the speech of contemporary students. They emphasized that the education of students' national and linguistic identity is crucial in today's conditions and requires the consolidation of efforts by educators.

In addition, Diadchenko and Kulishenko participated in a round table discussion on the issue of standardizing terminology in the methodology of teaching Ukrainian as an inherited language. We hope that the scientific and methodological experience gained from this conference is useful for further work in the field of teaching Ukrainian as a foreign language.

Participation in the conference is a big experience that allows for the discovery of new ideas in the teaching of the native language as a foreign language, an increase in qualifications, and the establishment of contacts with like-minded colleagues.
