To get acquainted and to exchange experience with colleagues-Ukrainianists, teachers of our department visited Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.

On February 25, 2018, the 9th student conference “The First Step into Science” was held at the Congress Center of the SSU. Nataliia A. Pylypenko, Olha M. Skvarcha and Hanna V. Diadchenko, lecturers of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens, together with the students of the Medical Institute took part in the event.

On February 21, on the International Mother Language Day, foreign students of group LS-417 (Medical Institute of SSU) not only read and spoke in Ukrainian, but also welcomed their classmates and Alla A. Silka, teacher of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens, in their own languages.

Recently, Saein Burke, the student of the Preparatory Department, performed a concert at the hostel № 2 of the Sumy State University. He played the works of F. Chopin, I. Bach, V. Mozart and his own works.

Foreign students of the Preparatory Department got acquainted with the peculiarities of celebrating the New Year in Ukraine, with the attributes of this holiday.

Lecturers of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens Olga M.Volkova, Hanna V. Diadchenko and Yuliia O. Klipatska visited an event «Fresher's Party»organized by foreign students from India.

The Linguistic Center of the Slavic languages continues its work successfully. During the three months of its existence, 26 foreign citizens improved their language (learning individually and in groups of no more than 6-8 people).

The Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens pays much attention to out-of-class work with foreign students.

Foreign students of the Preparatory Department of SSU continue to get acquainted with the holidays, traditions and customs of the Ukrainian people.

Yevheniia Yu. Burnos, senior teacher, and Nataliia A. Pylypenko-Fritsak, teacher, took part in the International Scientific and Practical Seminar "Innovations and Traditions in Language Training of Students", which took place on December 14, 2017, in the Kharkov National University of Construction and Architecture.

Teachers of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens (Larysa V. Bidenko, Viktor A. Zavhorodnii, Hanna I. Kyselova, Alina V. Shevtsova) have prepared the manual for foreign students of the Preparatory Department "My University".
