On March 9, 2017, students of the Preparatory Department of SSU took part in the celebration of the event, dedicated to the birthday of Taras Shevchenko.

The event was held together with the teachers and students of the Department of Preschool and Primary Education of Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A. S. Makarenko. The event’s program was prepared by senior teacher of the Department of Preschool and Primary Education, honored teacher Larisa I. Ruban and conducted with the participation of first year students of specialty "Preschool and Primary education" and students of M/I-2, which were invited to the celebration together with their curator Hanna V. Dyadchenko.

The focus of the concert was “Women in Taras Shevchenko’s work and fate”. Foreign students also took part in the event – they recited lines from the unofficial anthem of Ukraine “The Mighty Dnieper”. Guests from Jordan, Palestine, Tanzania and Ghana were impressed by the beautiful and colorful Ukrainian embroidery, melodious folk music, and songful Ukrainian language. Teachers and students of Pedagogical University were pleased to learn that Taras Shevchenko is known to foreigners – there are a street and a park named after Shevchenko in Amman (the Jordanian capital). Thus, organizers, guests and everyone involved got great pleasure from the atmosphere of the celebration dedicated to the anniversary of the Great Kobzar.
