In accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on the introduction of an emergency situation regime throughout Ukraine, quarantine at the SSU is extended until June 22, 2020. This measure is taken in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection COVID-19 in Ukraine.

The educational process at the university during quarantine is carried out using remote technologies.

Despite the difficulties and the suspension of classwork, foreign students have the opportunity to acquire knowledge, develop skills and abilities in various types of speech activities.

The department has posted materials on various educational platforms of the university (Examinarium, UMIX, OCW), and opened distance learning courses in Ukrainian as a foreign language. On these platforms, students have the opportunity to get acquainted with lexical and grammatical material, go through simulators and test their knowledge with the help of tasks. At the same time, the work of scientists and methodologists on the creation of methodological materials for in-depth study of the state language continues.

Teachers and students interact through Google Meet, ZOOM, Google Classroom, whereas, as experience has shown, video lessons are an effective means of developing foreign students’ speech competencies. Teaching is also carried out via e-mail, SSU personal cabinet, popular messengers, which makes it possible to take into account the individual characteristics of foreign students.

We hope that thanks to joint efforts, the study of the Ukrainian language will be fruitful and productive.
