Students receive their first scientific practice at student conferences held at each educational institution.

On April 16-17, 2019, the Second All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “The Scientific Community of Students of the 21st Century” was held in Sumy State University, on the basis of the Department of Language Education for Foreign Citizens.

Students and their academic supervisors took an active part in the conference. Participators introduced our university, as well as other higher educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus and Ukraine, such as Brest State University named after Alexander S. Pushkin, National Medical University named after Alexander A. Bogomolets, Kyiv International University, Kyiv National University of Technology and Design, Sumy State Pedagogical University named after Anton S. Makarenko, Sumy National Agrarian University.

About 120 people participated at the conference. The geography of foreign students who have submitted their papers to the conference is extensive: Azerbaijan, Belarus, Zimbabwe, India, Jordan, Iran, Yemen, China, Morocco, Nigeria, Palestine, Syria, Tanzania, Turkmenistan, Turkey, Uzbekistan.

The Deputy Dean on scientific work of the Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications Olena M. Yevtushenko made a welcoming speech. She noted that the participation of students in the conference is the first step to big science, and students take this step with great interest. The atmosphere of the holiday reigns in the hall, and the fact that science in the department is a holiday is heartwarming. Olena M. Yevtushenko pointed out a large number of participants, reports and wished a successful conference.

Larysa V. Bіdenko, the Head of the Department of Language Education for Foreign Citizens, and Alina V. Shevtsova, the Deputy Director on Scientific Work of the Department of International Studies SumDU, congratulated all the participants on the opening of the conference and expressed confidence in its fruitful work.

The purpose of our conference is to promote and stimulate interest in scientific activity, to develop the image of science, to identify talented, gifted students, to establish contacts between students from different countries and from different universities.

Within the framework of the conference, foreign students presented their scientific achievements, discussed the problems of educational and scientific work, introduced the listeners to culture, customs and traditions of speaker’s countries, and communicated.

Following the conference, the participants received certificates, gifts and many positive emotions.

An interesting concert prepared by the efforts of foreign students became the final flourish. Especially impressing were the Indian students’ performance of Ukrainian folk dance and singing the Ukrainian song “Chervona ruta”.

At the end of the conference, students became participants of the workshop on painting Easter eggs, which was prepared and conducted by Associate Professor, Candidate of Philological sciences of our department Alina V. Cherniakova.

Foreigners had a real opportunity to touch the folk culture, the daily life of Ukrainians, learned about the tradition of painting eggs. Choosing a sample of Easter eggs, participants made their own work of art, as it was the first self-made Easter egg. Students were delighted with the new knowledge, creative skills, and communication in the informal creative athmosphere.
