On November 16, a methodical workshop on “Interethnic Tolerance: A View of Student Youth” was organized on the basis of the Institute of Medicine by the Department’s teachers and the Center for Euro-Initiative’s volunteers from Turkey and Italy.
During the event, SSU’s foreign students, representatives from different countries, in particular Palestine, Nigeria, Sweden, Uzbekistan, and volunteers from Turkey and Italy expressed their views on the problem and made a canvas of the world. The purpose of the socio-cultural event was to increase the level of mutual respect and mutual understanding between representatives of different nations. SSU is a multinational family, which includes about 1500 foreign students from 60 countries of the world.
International Day of Tolerance is celebrated on November 16th all over the world. It was introduced in 1995 by the decision of UNESCO. That day, the Declaration of Principles on Tolerance was adopted. It deals with the equality of all people, regardless of their religion, gender, ethnicity or skin color. According to the principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the important task of modern education is to prevent all forms of discrimination, genocide and various forms of violence among students in a multicultural environment.
