On February 21, on the International Mother Language Day, foreign students of group LS-417 (Medical Institute of SSU) not only read and spoke in Ukrainian, but also welcomed their classmates and Alla A. Silka, teacher of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens, in their own languages.
Obi-Okonkwo Chiagoziem Uchenna and Siki Paul Olangba from Nigeria, Frimpong Awurama Kwae and Yeboah Esther Kyeiwa from Ghana, Mulenga Lukundo from Zambia demonstrated their knowledge of the languages Tiv, Igbo, Twi, Bemba. Natalia Maria Ogan from Poland spoke about her group in Polish.
The students learned about the history of the International Mother Language Day, the motto of which in 2018 is “Linguistic diversity and multilingualism contribute to sustainable development”.
