Foreign students of the Preparatory Department got acquainted with the peculiarities of celebrating the New Year in Ukraine, with the attributes of this holiday.

Students themselves decorated their classes and Christmas trees. All the groups took an active part in the New Year's concert: they recited poems in Russian, Ukrainian and in their native languages; they sang songs and danced. Did Moróz (Father Frost) and Snihurónka (Snow Maiden) congratulated students and lecturers on the New Year, presented gifts to students.

On January 7, Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas. Students learned that Ukrainians begin to celebrate Christmas on January 6, on Christmas Eve. There should be twelve dishes on the table in honor of the twelve apostles. Mandatory dish is kutia, which is a wheat or rice porridge, mixed with butter, raisins, honey and nuts.

Foreign students took part in the charitable action “Help the orphans”. They bought gifts and gave them to children of the Center for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation.
