Foreign students of the Preparatory Department of SSU continue to get acquainted with the holidays, traditions and customs of the Ukrainian people.

This time, they found out that every year on December 19, Orthodox Christians of Ukraine celebrate the St. Nicholas Day. Usually, on this holiday children receive sweets as gifts. Nicholas always cared for needy children: he fed, gave gifts and warm clothes. One day he decided to help three girls who did not have a dowry, and secretly brought gold coins to their house. Hence, the tradition of leaving gifts and sweets for children under the pillow arose.

St. Nicholas came to visit foreign students too. He congratulated them on the holiday, wished them every success in their studies and presented them with gifts.

Students of the group M/I-3 bought presents to children deprived of parental care and transferred them to an orphanage.
