After the IV International Scientific and Practical Conference "Actual Problems of Teaching Foreign Students at the Present Stage" and as a part of the 25th anniversary of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens, our lecturers organized a trip for the guests from the Taras ShevchenkoNational UniversityofKyiv to one of the most interesting cities of the Sumy region – Trostianets.

Trostianets, which is located on the banks of the river Boromlia, is famous for its fabulous forests and lakes, as well as historical sights.

The guests visited the house of Leopold Koenig (the former Golitsyns’ manor). Here, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky lived and created his great works. The house faces a beautiful park, and picturesque "Alley of Love" with wooden sculptures.

Near the house there is the fortress "Round Yard" – a unique architectural structure, which has no analogues in Ukraine. This stable yard of the manor of the Nadarzhinskiys–Golitsyns was built in the middle of the 18th century. A beautiful light brick building resembles a medieval castle. In the courtyard of the fortress the theatrical performances were staged in the open air. In 2007, at the All-Ukrainian competition "Seven Wonders of Ukraine", the Round Yard of Trostianets was included to the list of the hundred most amazing objects of the country.

Lecturers saw an interesting exposition of the Chocolate museum. The guide introduced guests to the history of the advent of chocolate in Europe, explained how to grow a chocolate tree and make sweets and coffee drinks, and told about the history of the local chocolate factory.

According to the program of excursion to Trostianets, guests visited the Annunciation and Ascension churches.
