Alla A. Silka took part in the IV International scientific-practical conference “Ukrainian Language in the world”.

Alla A. Silka, Associate professor of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens,took part in the IV International scientific-practical conference “Ukrainian Language in the world” that was held on November 9-10, 2016 at the Lviv Polytechnic International Institute of Education, Culture and Relations with Diaspora. The issues of studying and learning Ukrainian language were the subject of scientific interests of more than 110 registered participants from 14 countries. Among the keynote speakers at the conferencewere Yuri Shevchuk (Columbia University, New York, USA), W. Modunka (Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland), O. Ponomareva (University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Italy), M. Yenkala (University of Cambridge, UK).

The conference held a roundtable “Ukrainian language as a foreign language: advanced techniques, problems and solutions”, master classes and presentations of educational publications and resources.

One of the accompanying events of the conference became a presentation of a scene video “Fox Mykyta from around the world”. This project, implemented jointly by MIOK, Jamala and Ukrainian communities in the diaspora, involved Ukrainian children aged 5 to 11 years from 33 countries reading fragments of Ivan Franko’spoem “Fox Mykyta” miok.lviv.ua/?p=11432

IV International scientific-practical conference “Ukrainian language in the world” demonstrated the relevance of issues related to teaching and functioning of the Ukrainian language, particularly outside Ukraine.
