Assistant of Department of language training for foreign citizens Zaitseva Stanislava Stanislavivna was awarded the degree of Candidate of Sciences in social communications (PhD) (order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 1188 of 24.09.2020 “On approval of decisions of the Attestation Board of the Ministry of September 24, 2020 and amendments to the orders of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine").

Quarantine and self-isolation conditions forced teaching staff to adapt to modern realities. This does not mean that the entire educational process should stop, and even more such a key activity of the university as scientific, because it is the indicators of scientific activity that create the basis for reaching the international level in all spheres of life, which undoubtedly affects the formation of the university image as not only an educational, but also a powerful scientific institution.

In addition to conducting online classes on the Zoom, Google Meet, etc. platforms, during the autumn quarantine, teachers of Department of language training for foreign citizens continue to work and win new scientific victories.

International Student Day is a holiday for all students. In Ukraine, as in most countries of the world, it is celebrated on November 17. In 2020, the holiday associated with youth, romance and fun will be celebrated for the twenty-first time.

Teachers of Department of language training for foreign citizens Bidenko L. V. and Klipatska Yu.O. for several years have been actively involved in the development of test tasks in Ukrainian as a foreign language.

Under the auspices of the International institute of education, culture and diaspora relations, Biennale “The Ukrainian language in the world: retreat or progress?” which was attended by teachers of LTFC Department Nataliia Pylypenko-Fritsak and Nataliia Vorona. During the event, issues of the quality of textbooks on the Ukrainian as a foreign language were considered, as well as the role of these textbooks as a means of promoting Ukraine in the world were discussed.

On November 10, 2020, at the invitation of the Ukrainian Radio Sumy, associate professor of Department of language training for foreign citizens Alla Yarova took part in a program dedicated to the day of Ukrainian writing and language.

On November 5-6, 2020, X International Symposium of Ukrainists of Central and Eastern Europe “Modern Ukrainian Studies: Problems of language, literature and culture” was held online (Czech Republic, Olomouc)

On October 18, 2020, All-Ukrainian green city action was held in Sumy.

Working remotely has opened new opportunities for teachers to improve the forms and methods of work, gain new knowledge, skills and abilities. Advanced training courses and webinars held at Sumy State University and outside became useful. They covered a wide range of issues of distance education, international and grant activities, legal and methodological support of the educational process, the philosophy of education.
