On May 6, 2020, on the basis of the Department of Ukrainian Studies of Ivano-Frankivsk Medical University, a seminar “Regulatory-Legislative and Educational-Methodological Problems of Teaching the Ukrainian Language in Higher Education Establishments of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine” was held. Teachers of the Department of Language Training of Foreign Citizens of SSU also joined the seminar.

On April 23-24, 2020 the Third All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference “The Scientific Community of Students of the 21st Century” was held in Sumy State University, on the basis of the Department of Language Education for Foreign Citizens.

On February 23, 2020, the XI Student Conference "The First Step to Science" was held at the Congress Center of Sumy State University. Teachers of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens Hanna V. Diadchenko, Liudmyla A. Kulishenko, Maryna M. Nabok, Nataliia A. Pylypenko-Fritsak and Olha M. Skvarchcha together with students of the Medical Institute participated in the event.

On February 21, Alla Yarova, PhD in Philology, Associate Professor of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens of SSU, held a public lecture “ the Ukrainian language daily”.

In the Academic Art Gallery the opening of the exhibition of graphics and painting "Topography of Koktebel" took place. The author of the pieces is a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine Ihor Shvachunov. The artist repeatedly acquainted students and teachers of higher education with his creative achievement.

In order to establish international cooperation and study innovative educational technologies, teachers of the department are actively participating in the International Program of Mobility ERASMUS + KA 1 with educational component.

On December 12-14, at the Ukrainian Center for Educational Quality Assessment (Kyiv), the final seminar on the topic "Creation and evaluation of test tasks for Ukrainian as a foreign language exam" took place. There were discussed such sections of the examination as "Reading", "Understanding the language by ear", "Writing", and "Talking". Questions were raised about the criteria creation for evaluating different types of speech activity. There was a discussion and review of the test tasks.

This year on December 9, Hanna V. Diadchenko and Nataliia O. Vorona, teachers of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens, organized and conducted an excursion for foreign students of the Medical Institute to the Sumy Museum of Local History.

In November 2019, teachers of the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens presented their academic achievements at the IX International Scientific Conference "Slavic Languages: Systemic Descriptive and Sociocultural Aspects of Research".

Foreign students of the Medical Institute of SSU, who study in the Ukrainian language, received a new textbook “We study anatomy in Ukrainian” (part 1) on the Ukrainian language. The author of the textbook is Alla A. Sylka, Associate Professor of our Department.

This November, the "Hippocrates’ Descendants" club celebrated its second anniversary. The club brings together foreign medical students, who are interested in scientific work and love the Ukrainian language.

In October of this year the senior lecturer of the department Hanna V. Diadchenko and Indian students of the third year of medical institute visited Sumy Regional Academic Theater of Drama and Musical Comedy named after Mikhail S. Shchepkin.
